PRINCIPAL MESSAGE

Curriculum Night Survey

Thank you to those of you who were able to join us for our child's curriculum night. This is an important evening that supports setting you and your child up for a successful school year. This year we combined all four grade levels into one night with two sessions. We would appreciate your feedback on how you experienced this change in schedule. Please take a moment to complete this survey. Your feedback is important and will help us make adjustments in the future to improve our systems.

Vision/Mission Statement

Attendance Reminders

Now that students and families have adjusted to morning school routines, we will be taking attendance according to our bell system. Beginning Monday, September 15, students will need to be on campus and past the office by the 9:20 bell, to avoid receiving a tardy slip before going to class.

 

Parent's need to stop at the main office when walking children into school. Please encourage your child's independence by allowing them to walk into school from the front gate, main sidewalk, or car on their own if they are ready to do so.

 

Reporting Absences- TWO Options:

  • You can report your child's absence, late arrivals or early dismissals through Parent VUE. This will be reported directly to Fernwood Attendance.
  • If you need to email your child's teacher for additional information, you can include fernwoodattendance@nsd.org instead of Parent VUE.

9/18 - Picture Day

IN THE KNOW

Picture Day is September 18th

Soon your student will be bringing an order envelope to order picture packages or you can use this link to place an order: mydorian.com. All order forms are due on September 21st. Late order can only be processed on line at the link above. The purchased pictures package should arrive in November and will be sent home with students.

Helpful tips for picture day:

  • Schedule haircuts 7-10 prior to picture day
  • Wear simple clothing. Solid shirts or small prints photograph best
  • Avoid logos and text on clothing

TRANSPORTATION

Thank you for your support and cooperation as we adjust to our new transportation systems. Please see the reminders below to help maintain smooth transitions.

WALKER AREA

  • Once you have entered through the gate and connected with your child, please exit quickly so the flow of traffic can continue.
  • Please stay on the walkway and off the landscaping.

CAR RIDERS

  • Please post your Car Sign on the right side of your car for easy identification.
  • Please have your child exit on the right side of your car, if possible.
  • Parents please stay in your car when dropping or picking up your child(ren).
  • Encourage your child's independence by having them practice buckling and unbuckling their seat belt.
  • If you need extra time, you can pull all the way forward in the drive lane.

PARKING

With our construction, parking is limited. The gravel parking lot off of Jewell Road where our buses enter, is for construction parking ONLY at this time. That lot will reopen in January when our new building is complete.

Fall After School Classes Are Here!

Our Fall program runs mid-October to before Winter Break—and it's packed with fun!

  • Returning favorites Chess and LEGO 
  • New Wednesday class after early dismissal
  • Two brand-new classes debuting at Fernwood
  • Interest form is due 9/21. If interest exceeds capacity, a lottery will be held.

Limited scholarships available.
