Happy Summer Break

We wish all our families a restful and joy filled summer. Thank you for your support and partnership this year in the education of your children. We look forward to welcoming our new and returning students back in the fall. For those of you leaving Fernwood, remember you always carry your Panther Pride with you and Fernwood will always be a place where you belong.

 

5th Grade Celebration 

Our Fifth Grade Teachers and the PTSA Chairs are creating a 5th grade celebration to acknowledge the changing of a chapter; their elementary experience comes to a close and their secondary experience begins. This will be held on Monday, June 15th from 2:20-3:00pm in the gym and cafeteria. 

  • 2:20-2:40pm, Students will be acknowledged and celebrated in the gym.
  • 2:40-3:00pm, Students will enjoy light refreshments in the cafeteria. 

Due to limited space, we ask that attendance is reserved for immediate family only, with TWO per family, INCLUDING a sibling.

 

Field Day will be Tuesday, June 16th. 

  • Intermediate (3rd-5th grade) students will have Field day in the morning from 9:40am -11:10am
  • Primary (K-2nd) students will have Field Day in the afternoon from 1:45pm - 3:15pm.  

For our primary students who choose to play in the water stations we suggest bringing a towel or bathrobe to wear after Field Day since there will NOT be time to change after the completion of Field Day. 

 Some Field Day reminders for students:

  • Check in with a school assistant or volunteer if they need to use the restroom (Gym Foyer, or Kinder Foyer bathroom)
  • Keep shoes on; we suggest sandals, flip flops, or water shoes (Crocs are great!)
  • Swimsuits can be worn under clothing or wet shirts - no tummies showing
  • Try many stations, but only participate in stations where you feel comfortable (water stations are NOT a requirement) 
  • Respect Student and Parent Volunteers, Listen and Follow directions. 
  • Use equipment safely and properly
  • DO NOT take water balloons or water cups, unless given one or instructed to retrieve one from a station worker
  • Be kind, wait patiently for your turn, help others with “rule reminders”, ask station volunteers for help when needed. 
  • HAVE FUN!!!

Field Day check list:

  • 3rd-5th bring to school:.
  • Dry Change of Clothes
  • Extra Shoes
  • Towel
  • Wet Clothes Bag

K-2nd NO CHANGING after Field Day or before dismissal, bring a TOWEL or Bathrobe ONLY

Last Day of School

Dismissal is at 11:50am- There is no lunch service on the last day.

 

Lost and Found

Any items not claimed will be donated on June 18th. Item Pictured Below.  Also, if you are a family in need, please come check the racks for items you could use. 

Two racks of children's clothing are displayed outside Fernwood Elementary School.

Last Communication

This will be the last newsletter communication until mid August when we will send out the Panther Pride with all of the back to school information. Class placements will be available in Parent Vue in late August.

 

Main Office Summer Hours

The main office will be closed June 25th through August 2nd.
