Supporting Your Child’s Success on the I-Ready Diagnostic

We’re reaching out to share the importance of the upcoming I-Ready diagnostic assessment and how it directly supports your child’s learning journey.

The I-Ready diagnostic provides teachers with a detailed snapshot of each student’s strengths and areas for growth in reading and math. These results are essential as they guide our instructional planning, help us form small groups for targeted support, and allow us to personalize learning based on each student’s needs.

Please take a moment to talk with your child about the importance of doing their best on

this assessment. Encourage them to stay focused, take their time, and approach each question with care. This isn’t about getting everything right; it’s about showing what they know so we can help them grow.

Thank you for partnering with us to support your child’s success. If you have any questions about the I-Ready diagnostic or how we use the results, feel free to reach out.

The Fernwood Elementary School 2025–2026 yearbook is on sale and is a wonderful way to capture memories from the entire school year, including class photos and school activities. Families can order online at buytheyearbook.com using school code 731123.

An early bird price of $25 is available through January 31, 2026, after which the price remains $30 until the final sales deadline of April 1, 2026. For questions, please contact fernwoodyearbook@gmail.com.

After School Program Chair

Immediate volunteers are urgently needed to help organize and run the PTSA after-school programs that provide valuable educational enrichment opportunities for our students. We are seeking a committed volunteer who can begin working immediately alongside our current coordinator, Manli, and continue through the entire 2026–2027 school year. These programs play an important role in enriching our children’s school experience, and without dedicated volunteers, the PTSA will be unable to offer them. If you are able to help and want to make a meaningful impact on our school community, please email Shannon at sestradaptsa@gmail.com as soon as possible.

PTSA Meeting

The next general PTSA meeting scheduled for January 13th is now moved to Tuesday, January 20th at 7pm. You are welcome to join us in person at the Fernwood library or via Zoom.

In this meeting there will be a bond and levies presentation by the Northshore School District. The goal of the presentation is to educate voters on the importance of passing 3 funding measures in February. These proposed levy and capital bond renewals are critical to supporting essential priorities such as maintaining smaller class sizes, keeping technology and security systems up to date, and modernizing aging school facilities to better serve our students and staff.
