Clever, Schoology, and Seesaw

Families will log into the Clever Family Portal at https://family.nsd.org.

All Parents and Caregivers that have emails in our Student Information System Synergy and who have Educational and Contact Rights for a student will receive an invitation to join Clever.

This means that you have not been "connected" to one or more of your students in Clever. 

• Check your email to ensure that you have accepted all of the Clever invitations sent by Northshore to your email account.  You will have received one per student.
• Check your accounts in ParentVUE to make sure that your email account is attached to each student's record and that both Educational Rights and Contact Rights are associated with your student and your email account.
• If all of the above look accurate and you have checked your email and still do not see all of your students, please contact your school or create a support request at http://go.nsd.org/studenttechhelp.

The Instant Login button is only to be used in situations where your students can't get themselves logged into Clever.  Clicking this button means that you are effectively logging in as your student.

You will need to navigate back to https://family.nsd.org and log in to get back to the portal.

1. Navigate to https://schoology.com.
2. Click Log in.
3. Click Forgot your password.
4. Enter the email address associated with your Northshore account (the email that receives district communication, emergency messages, etc).
5. Click Send My Login Info.
6. Check your email again for a Schoology email with a link to reset your password.
7. Follow the prompts to set a new password and get logged into your account.

Once your Schoology account has been created, we recommend that you take a few moments to do the following:

• Setup your Profile
• Configure your Notifications
• Review your Account Settings
• Verify your Privacy Settings

Having a Parent account in Schoology is actually like having two accounts:

1. Your personal account, with your own name and information.
2. Your Child Activity display. From here, you can access Schoology from your child’s perspective—access what they access and receive updates about their activity.

To start, from your name, click the down-facing arrow and then select your child’s name to switch to their account. If you have multiple children associated with your account, all will be displayed in this area. The checkmark in this drop-down menu indicates which account you are currently accessing.

Parents have access to a variety of services in Schoology:

• View Schoology as each of your students to monitor assignments and progress.
• Message others in Schoology, such as Administrators and Teachers.
• Participate in School Discussions.
• Receive Updates from the Schools you are associated with.

While Parents have access to view Assignments and Course Content, Parents do not have the ability to complete assignments for their students.

This Schoology error appears when you are trying to access a document that you don't have permission to view.  This could be an attachment that has been shared with your student (and not with you specifically) or the sharing permissions are not set so that people with a link to the resource can view it.  Here are some things to try:

• Try having your student log into Schoology and see if they can show you the document or resource.
• Try contacting the teacher and explaining the error message you are seeing and ask them to adjust the permissions on the document or resource.

Set up Schoology notifications.  Notifications are the email or text message notifications you will get as a parent when certain things happen in Schoology related to your student's work in courses.  You can also elect to receive a weekly Parent Digest email to get a summary of activities and assignments for your student for the week.
